Play Spider Solitaire Online

Welcome to the Spider Palace! Here, you can play the legendary Solitaire variety online. Our game is free, available cross-platform, connecting people across the globe, and adds competition to this patience game!

Plenty of people rediscover the joy of playing cards with friends, family, and dedicated clubs. We want to give this joy a digital home, providing high-end online card games and thereby building a vivid player community.

We do not only offer Spider Solitaire. With a passion for detail, we worked on further popular card games: Check out our other patience games Klondike and Easthaven. Have a try at our trick-taking games Skat, Pinochle, Doppelkopf, and Sheepshead or go classic with Canasta, Rummy, or Mau-Mau. Our websites in English are collected at the Palace of Cards, but you can play any Spiele Palast game in English.

Focus, Relax, and Sort It!

Spider is a type of patience game. In contrast to the well known Klondike, Spider uses two decks of, traditionally French-suited, playing cards. Thus, the suits theoretically are Spades, Clubs, Hearts, and Diamonds. All 13 ranks – King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace – occur twice in each suit, resulting in 104 cards in total. In Spider, you can choose the cards to be in one suit only, in two suits or four suits.

To solve a game of Spider, you must use your attention, memory, and, you guessed it, patience. These traits make it a popular pastime and brain jogging. Traditionally, Spider is a one-player game.

The table is set up as follows: 54 cards are dealt to ten piles of cards in the middle of the table, the tableau. The first four piles contain six cards, and the other six piles contain five cards. The top card of each pile is revealed. The 50 remaining cards are used face down as the stock. During playing, you can distribute and reveal ten cards from the stock evenly to the tableau piles.

In a round of Spider, you move revealed cards from one tableau pile to the other, revealing the new top card of the first pile. This way, you sort the sequences bit by bit. The correct order is King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace. Once a sequence is complete, it will be moved to the foundation, the initially empty area above the tableau. In the end, there will be eight foundation piles.

Check our manual for a detailed explanation or take a look at our glossary to quickly look up single terms! Our in-game help will answer any questions coming up on the fly during playing.

Spider Online at the Palace

A relevant aspect that helped digital card games gain popularity was removing inconvenient tasks such as shuffling and dealing the cards as well as keeping track of and tallying the scores. Especially in Spider Solitaire, many cards are dealt and moved across the table repeatedly – many occasions for mistakes to happen. But a computer will reliably fulfill these tasks without getting bored.

At the Spider Palace, we use these advantages too. For example, a complete and correctly sorted sequence will be automatically placed on a foundation pile. To ensure fair play, we use an independently certified algorithm for optimal shuffling.

When developing Spider for the Palace, we wanted to preserve the quiet and the delightful pondering. Hence, you do not play against the clock here. Instead, you receive more points, the more effectively you solve a round. You can compare your performance to other players in our league system. Additionally, you get to compete directly with fellow players at the Palace! Up to four players can join one table. All players start each round with the same set-up. Collecting and losing points for their actions while sorting the sequences, their separate scores are determined. The player with the highest score wins!
